VALGEROLA VERTICAL 2023

In the summer season, the amateur sports association Sport Race Valtellina offers the first edition of the Vertical Skyrace test called "Valgerola Vertical", under the aegis of FISKY and CSEN, included in the Crazy Vertical Italy Cup circuit and the only test of the Italian Vertical Kilometer Championship. categories Open and Youth A and B.

The event will take place on Saturday 2 September 2023, included in the FISKY / CONI national calendar, and includes one test for the young categories and one for the men's and women's Open.

The starting point is the Polifunzionale of Rasura. The route develops over 3.2 kilometres, almost entirely on a path, within the frame of the Orobic mountains of Val Gerola, reaching the highest point at Cima Rosetta, 2,150 meters (for the youth categories the arrival is expected in the area of the Bar Bianco refuge).

The route does not have dangerous technical sections for the competitors, who will pass on numbered paths marked on the maps.

Until 2022 the association organized Rosetta International Skyrace, this year temporarily suspended to carry out the Italian Vertical Championship test.

All the logistics of the event take place at the Polifunzionale di Rasura, from number delivery operations to the award ceremonies.

Among the Open eight categories will be awarded with baskets of local products up to the wheel of Bitto or Casera cheese for the best podium winners.

As part of the event, the association makes available to the athletes:

• 40 free beds in the Holiday House;
• Free lunch at the multifunctional on the day of the race;
• Refreshments located evenly along the route;
• A fixed Red Cross station, an Alpine Rescue station, points manned by control personnel;
• Massage service at the Multifunctional;
• Photo shoot (athletes can collect a photograph of themselves during the race free of charge at the multipurpose station).

The event will be carried out in compliance with the FISKY sporting regulations.
